WordPress 3.3 (sonny) Comes with the WP Editor API the power of TINYMCE

WordPress 3.3 named sonny has been release recently and with it comes the news of the new wp_editor api. This makes for a whole new playing field, the reason I’m saying this is that before there wasn’t really a way to add the tinymce editor in your plugins without including an external code.

With this new WordPress function you can create an editor anywhere you like on your site, in the admin or the front end of you site. Just keep in mind that you might want to style the frontend for the editor or it might look funny.

To create an editor all I did was add the code somewhere with the correct arguments it will then create an tinymce editor for you. Take a look at the screenshot below.

wp_editor( $content, 'mytexteditor', $settings = array('wpautop') );

Now that’s great power :)

Hope enjoy playing with the new wordpress update. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

    Hi Stefano,

    I don’t think it’s possible as I haven’t tried it myself yet.

    I know you will be able to upload the image through a separate upload field.

    What are you trying to do precisely?
